Acting Governor of St. Petersburg Georgy Poltavchenko and the General Director of JSC Rosseti Oleg Budargin from a host computer launched an individual testing of equipment for Innovative Complete Transformer Substation of Module Type (CTSM) 35/6/0.4 kV No.830 (Monetnaya).
The event was attended by the Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg - Vyacheslav Makarov - and the Director General Lenenergo, JSC - Andrew Sorochinsky.
The launch of CTSM No.830 will relieve 35/6 kV substation No.12 (Petrogradskaya), which was opened as early as in 1927, and since then it was not capitally reconstructed.
Monetnaya substation, opened today, takes three times less space than a traditional power supply centre, providing the same capacity. It is eco-friendly and does not contain inflammable materials. Modern technologies, microprocessor-based relay protection devices, automation and remote control equipment, installed here, allow to perform efficient loads distribution and to reduce the power losses in local grids.
Monetnaya substation is the first of nine modular transformer substations (TS), which will be build by a subsidiary of JSC Rosseti - Lenenergo, JSC within a project on transferring the power distribution grid of Petrogradsky district of St. Petersburg from 6 (10) kV voltage class to 35 kV voltage class. Today it is the most innovative development project of power grids development in Russia.
Compact and safe substations of new generation will allow to minimize power grids operating costs.
"Today there happened a momentous event not only for Petrogradsky district, but for power sector of the city, as we have launched the first Complete Transformer Substation of 35 kV. It is an absolutely innovative product. It takes three times less space than old transformer substations. It will allow to copy such facilities around the city, including in the central part of St. Petersburg, which will ensure uninterrupted power supply to enterprises and institutions", - says the acting governor of St. Petersburg - Georgy Poltavchenko.
"Today a new stage begins and, without any exaggeration, a new level of development of distribution power grid sector in St. Petersburg. Modernization of power grid in St. Petersburg is one of the most strategically important projects of JSC Rosseti, which will allow to create the first "smart grids" in Petrogradsky district," - says the director General of JSC Rosseti - Oleg Budargin.
Due to the modernization of distribution grids Petrogradsky district will receive a reserve of transformer capacity of 40 MVA, which will allow Lenenergo, JSC to fulfil its obligations in technological connection and to provide reliable and quality power supply to consumers for many future years.
