Senior executives of JSC Russian Grids and Kaluga Oblast as part of the working group meeting on Energy Development in the region under the chairmanship of Governor Anatoly Artamonov have discussed modernizing the power grid network and connecting new consumers to it.
The meeting was attended by the heads of JSC Russian Grids and its subsidiaries: First Deputy CEO for Technical Policy Roman Berdnikov, First Deputy on Investment Activities Dan Belenky, as well as the heads of JSC "IDGC of Center and Volga Region" and of the branch "Kalugaenergo".
Kaluga Oblast is one of the most promising, investment attractive and rapidly developing regions of Russia. New enterprises and houses are actively being constructed in the region. As a result, the capacity of the four major industrial parks "Rosva", "Vorsino", "Kaluga-South" and "Grabtsevo" is more than 320 MW. Seventeen new enterprises plan to open in Kaluga Oblast in 2014.
The last few years have seen an increase in applications for technological connection. The first 5 months of 2014 saw 4228 applications made totalling 192 MW in capacity. The number of applications when compared to the same period of 2013 has increased by 11%. The branch Kalugaenergo (part of JSC Russian Grids) has already struck 30 deals to join the power supply network to the residents of the technoparks totalling 162 MW in capacity.
JSC Russian Grids representatives told the head of the region that consistent works are being carried out aimed at increasing the number of open power supply centres, as well as lowering the energy shortage.
In order to meet the energy requirements of the region the following substations have been built - Sozvezdiye (220 kW), Buran (110 kW), Malanino and Akhlebinino, as well as several Distribution points (10 kW). To ensure the connection of housing projects to the power supply networks, the Kalugaenergo branch has concluded 109 grid connection agreements with a total capacity of 70.3 MW.
In addition, the Governor of Kaluga Oblast gave a report on the construction of the 110 kW substation "Kolosovo" and the 110 kW power lines "Sozvediye - Kolosovo". The construction of these facilities is aimed at connecting the new industrial estate residents to the power supply networks and also at increasing the reliability electricity supply in the northern of the region.
The following issues were also highlighted in the course of the meeting: timing deadlines of investment projects which is carried out in the Kaluga Oblast territory by the JSC Russian Grids subsidiaries: JSC Federal Grid Company of Unified Energy System, JSC IDGC of Centre and Volga Region and JSC IDGC of Centre.
Apart from this, energy experts and city council representatives of Kaluga reported that JSC "IDGC of Centre and Volga Region" - "Kalugaenergo" had met its obligations relative to the operation of Kaluga municipal electric grids leased to the company in 2013 on a long-term basis. Kaluga Energy experts completed a series of events designed to increase the quality of electricity supply to consumers of Kaluga. This has helped to reduce the number of outages on cable networks (0.4-10 kW) in the first half of 2014 by 37.5% compared to the same period of last year.
The meeting also reviewed the implementation of the Kalugaenergo programme directed at modernizing the grid infrastructure of the city. The first stage of the project was completed in 2013 in the course of which162 transformer substations were reconstructed and 30 km of cable lines (0.4 -10 kW) was replaced. An automated system of technical measurement of electricity was also installed along with adjacent network organizations.
The meeting also highlighted energy company needs such as materials and equipment. Also discussed was the possibility of organizing the manufacturing of such products on current and advanced enterprises of Kaluga Oblast.
